The sacred roots of the argan tree.

From Agadir, With Heritage

Agadir: birthplace of the argan tree

In the heart of southwestern Morocco lies Agadir, a coastal region framed by the Atlantic and protected by the High Atlas Mountains. Here, and only here, the Argania Spinosa tree grows naturally. For centuries, this ancient species, known locally as the "Tree of Life", has supported communities, with its fruit yielding one of the world's most precious oils.

At Arganosa, we source our oil exclusively from Agadir's local cooperatives, in a region recognised by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve for its exceptional ecological and cultural significance.

Did you know? It takes approximately 40 kilograms of argan fruit to produce just one litre of pure argan oil.

Moroccan heritage in every drop

What makes argan oil from Agadir exceptional isn't just the terroir; it's the people behind every harvest. Every bottle of 100% pure argan oil carries a story of tradition, craftsmanship and dignity. Our partnerships with female-run cooperatives help preserve ancestral techniques while empowering the women who continue to pass this knowledge from one generation to the next.

A portion of our revenue is reinvested into community-led initiatives focused on education, fair wages and improved working conditions. As a result, every purchase becomes a meaningful contribution to preserving Moroccan heritage while supporting long-term social progress.

Sustainability that goes deeper

In an industry saturated with buzzwords, Arganosa stands for substance. Our oil is organic-certified, cold-pressed and cruelty-free. Our packaging is UV-protective, recyclable and developed with responsible, eco-conscious partners. Every bottle reflects our commitment to protecting both Morocco's natural heritage and the communities that make it possible.

A tree that defies time

The argan tree is more than 80 million years old as a species, and a single tree can survive over two centuries in harsh, arid climates. Its deep roots help combat desertification, and its branches offer vital shade to local biodiversity.

For generations, the indigenous Amazigh (Berber) women have carefully harvested its fruit, cracked each nut by hand and cold-pressed the kernels into golden oil: a process still done entirely by hand to preserve its integrity.
